Our last watercolor class was held inside the always interesting art gallery on South 1st street, Art for the People Gallery. Just as the temperature started to drop in Austin and the rain started to fall, Heidi pulled out the watercolors for our tidy group and starting walking them through the techniques.
The mood was quiet and calm. Mostly everyone had a vision for why they were there. They wanted to expand their art portfolio, or they had a project in mind. But some just wanted to paint and spend their afternoon doing something a out of the norm.
Watercolors are a strange medium. The look of the page changes drastically as it dries, and a colorful residue is layered upon the page in a way only liquid could create.
The last part of the learnshop, we worked on floral patterns, which were used to create a wreath.
They were seriously pretty. Now I just can’t wait to see what everyone does with their newfound skills.
